I needed the kitchen removal done quickly and between initial call and completion was 72 hours. Clean up was excellent and demo crew were brilliant.

How Parking Lot and Paving Demolition Runs

Locate the services. Lot lighting, irrigation, storm drains, catch basins and hydro feeds all run under and through a parking lot. Locates come first.
Decide what stays. Curbs, islands, catch basins and the base underneath are often reused. Marking that up front keeps the price down.
Plan the phasing. Most commercial lots cannot close entirely. Work is split into sections so part of the lot stays open and traffic still flows.
Break out the surface. Asphalt is milled or broken out; concrete is saw cut into sections and broken with a hammer attachment.
Separate the materials. Asphalt, concrete and rebar go into different streams. Both asphalt and concrete are widely recycled where the receiving facility accepts them.
Grade the base. The base is cleaned off and graded so the paving contractor can start rather than having to fix your mess first.

What Drives the Cost of a Lot Removal

Paving demolition prices on tonnage and access, and both are easy to underestimate:

Surface area and thickness, which together decide the tonnage leaving the site
Asphalt or concrete, since reinforced concrete is heavier work and heavier disposal
Whether the granular base is staying or coming out
Curbs, islands, bollards and light bases, which are separate items rather than part of the surface
Phasing and traffic management, if the property has to stay open while work runs
Working hours, because retail and industrial sites often need nights or weekends

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you do the work in stages so the lot stays open?

Yes, and on most commercial properties that is how it has to work. The lot is split into sections with fencing and signage, so parking and access stay usable while one area is being removed. Tell us the parts of the site that cannot close and we plan around them.

Is the old asphalt recycled?

Asphalt and concrete both go into recycling streams wherever the receiving facility accepts them. They are among the most commonly recycled demolition materials, which also helps on disposal cost since you are paying by weight.

Do you remove the base as well?

Only if you want it gone. Plenty of repaving jobs reuse a sound granular base, which saves both excavation and import. If the base has failed, or the new design changes the levels, it comes out. We price both.

Do you handle curbs and light bases?

Yes, but they are quoted separately from the surface because they are different work. Bring them up at quote stage so the number you get is the number you pay.
